Monomoy holds successful Empty Bowls, Full Hearts fundraiser
Students from across Monomoy Regional School District collaborated with a team of educators to hold the Empty Bowls, Full Hearts fundraiser on March 7, 2024, to support those with nutritional insecurity through the Family Table Collaborative.
Hundreds of community members gathered in the Monomoy Regional High School cafeteria for a great cause, enjoying homemade soups, including Captain Parker's chowder, freshly baked bread from Pain D’Avignon, and for dessert, cookies from Pelham on the Rise and coffee from Dunkin’ Harwich. Attendees were able to purchase ceramic bowls made by Monomoy High students, dined on placements created by Chatham Elementary and Harwich Elementary students, and enjoyed performances by the Monomoy Middle and Monomoy High choirs and the Monomoy High Jazz Band.
The event was coordinated by teachers Jeremiah Nickerson, Caroline Freitas, and Cheri Armstrong with assistance across the district from Fran Jorgenson, Amy Middleton, Sarah Jane Mason, Rose Richard, Wayne Naus, Taryn Zuccala, and Mike Newby. Student leaders for this event included Fiona Moore, Ashley Anderson, Sarah Groves, Kristina Tamasco, and Grace Elizabeth Arnold, plus countless student volunteers.
The Monomoy Empty Bowls, Full Hearts fundraiser raised $5,000 for The Family Table Collaborative.
