Monomoy Regional School District names Dr. Robin Millen as new Director of Curriculum
Monomoy Regional School District has named Dr. Robin Millen as its new Director of Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment. Millen returns to Monomoy following the departure of Dr. Marc Smith, who moved into a Superintendent position in another district.
Millen comes to Monomoy most recently from Nauset Regional School District, where she has been Director of Curriculum since 2021. Prior to that role, she was Principal of Chatham Elementary School from 2015 through 2021. She has also served as Assistant Principal of Harwich Elementary School, and was a classroom teacher in grades three through six for a number of years in Connecticut. She holds a master’s of science degree in education from the University of New Haven and earned her doctorate in educational leadership from Johnson & Wales University.
“I am thrilled to welcome Robin back to the Monomoy team as our Director of Curriculum,” said Monomoy Superintendent Dr. Scott Carpenter. “The hiring committee was impressed with her background, experience, and passion, and was united in the decision that she was the best candidate for this role. I am confident that her transition back to Monomoy will be seamless. She brings a wealth of knowledge and enthusiasm for providing our students with a wide range of educational opportunities, as well as commitment to deeper learning.”
Twelve individuals applied for the position vacated by Dr. Marc Smith. Four were deemed as highly qualified and selected to be interviewed by a hiring committee, composed of the MRSD Superintendent, Business Manager, two principals, the two new Grade 5-12 curriculum coordinators, and teacher-leaders from each school. At the conclusion of the interviews, Dr. Millen was the unanimous choice to be the district’s next Director of Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment. Millen was offered the position by Superintendent Dr. Scott Carpenter.
Millen will begin her position in Monomoy on August 21, 2023.
